What's a houseblog?

"Houseblogs" are online diaries by people building, improving or restoring their own homes. Like other blogs, they are updated regularly and show the work unfold in real time. They each reflect the unique character of the individuals doing the work.

There are hundreds of houseblogs across the internet. Houseblogs.net serves as a central hub to help find, track and interact with those many individuals embarking on their DIY adventures.

What is houseblogs.net?

Houseblogs.net was started in January of 2005 as a home improvement resource for DIYers and as a community tying together individuals who write journals (or 'blogs') about their own home improvement adventures.

Houseblogs.net makes it easier for readers to find and follow many individual houseblogs at once. It helps writers get an audience (and encouragement) for their writing and their work.

This website is operated by HiP Media and managed Aaron & Jeannie Olson. We write our own houseblog (House in Progress) about life in a 1914 Craftsman-style bungalow in Chicago. We started our blog to share our own experience and passion for restoring an old home.

We started Houseblogs.net to keep up with the stories that other people tell about their own houses. Founded in 2005, it's evolved from a simple topical blogroll to a full blow community dedicated to home improvement enthusiasts.
