    if I am pouring concrete and I want my main floor to be 5 inches thick and all I have are 2x6s do I rip it to 1/2 in. so I can use it I have no clue what to do any answers on what I should do?

    I would run a chalk line along the 2x6, and then pour your concrete and level it to the chalk line.

    You can cut a small trench (1/2") below the form so that you get your height.  Then you want to support the form with stakes about 3 feet apart, making sure you are level and square.  I would then back fill the form with dirt so that the form will not bust out when you pour the concrete.  You want to have the top of the form at 5" so that you can use a screed board to level out the concrete.
