Making It Home sets a lovely table in her cottage by the sea.

The dining room.  We're on the brink of the holidays, this week is Thanksgiving, and it's all about the dining room.

Oft neglected these days as we eat on the run, or in our cars, or in the kitchen.  The Dining Room.  Have you been in your dining room lately?  Do you use it every day?  Or just a few times a year?

Whether you use it for formal entertaining or as a storage room for your good china, the one time of year when we all tend to dust off that dining room table is upon us.

So, let's take a look at some dining rooms from the housebloggers.

And, if you're signed in to Houseblogs.net and any of these entries inspire you?  Go ahead and mark them as a favorite so you can find them later.

Very excited to see our dining room!  Of course, there've been many updates since then.  Maybe I'll clean the room up today and post new pics - sort of a before and after.

The dining room was one of our first projects - it was an easy, high-impact room to work with. In round one, we removed the ugly wallpaper border, hung a new chandelier, and and repainted the walls in a dramatic marroon/pink scheme. When the color scheme got old (and believe me, you grow sick of pink quickly....) we refinished the hardwoods, stripped and stained the beadboard, and painted the walls Sherwin Williams "Emberglow" - a nice terra cotta color. It is one of my favorite rooms in the house.

Sadly, our dining room is still in it's before phase. But two nanoseconds after the tree and trimmings are down that wallpaper is history.

We haven't touched our dining room yet. It needs a skim coat is all, really. We do like what the previous owner did with it. Only photos are from a how to photography post I did:

Here's ours, Thanksgiving dinner and all! Half removed wallpaper, the PO's curtains and light fixture,  and the table we pulled off the back porch when snow started. It's good for storing the ancient computer that will become our toddlers, and my Schwinn Trike for now, but yesterday I started ripping out the fugly carpet, so it's already changing!
