Feature

Introducing the Houseblogs Forum

Posted by aaron on March 26, 2006 4:44 PM

After a long wait, we're finally adding an often requested feature for this site: the discussion forum.

From the houseblogs.net home page, you can reach the forum using the 'Discussion' button on the left-hand side. The houseblogs.net home page will also feature the latest questions and discussions started on the forum--just scroll down below the featured story.

The Houseblogs Forum may seem a bit different than other forums you've used--that's intentional. When looking at option, we wanted the forum to do several things:

  • Integrate seamlessly with the rest of the look and feel of houseblogs.net
  • Integrate with existing features like Ask Houseblogs.net
  • Make it easy to track discussions without a lot of hunting around.
  • Better enble communication between houseblog readers and writers alike.
  • Provide us the ability to add more featured down the road.

We think the new forum (which is based on an application called Vanilla) is going to meet all those goals. While we're starting off simply, we're hoping that this will also enable us to add other often-requested features in the near future as well....'my favorite houseblogs' anyone? :-)

Anyway, that's it for now. If you have any questions or suggestions email is fine...but we'd actually suggest trying the forums as well. :-)

A special note to housebloggers: This forum is independent of the system used to manage your houseblog profile, so you'll need to register for a new account. That said, you're welcome to use the same login and password. The old profile management system will continue to function without changes.
